BUBBLES (or GRUP)
Corona, the lockdown and the curfew. The situation requires that you stay at home with your family. What does home mean? What family? The questioning of belonging to a group. What shape does a group have? What color? People in confined spaces looking for new solutions, finding each other or separating. Close or distance. Relationships rub against each other, ignite small fires. New state, movement comes into the masses. Like bubbles, phase interfaces of gas volumes, ready to burst at any time. Projects pile up, burst like bubbles, flow and leave room for new bubbles and projects.
Tension is released, bubbles suddenly turn into anti-bubbles and drip and flow.
On my way through Corona the pictures move back and forth in this tension between bubbles and liquid, between flow and congestion. The system is self-regulating. I’m confident. My task in it? Making projects work. Making relationships tangible.
Since her return to Switzerland in 2013 she took courses in social studies to create synergies between her artistic work and social fields. Her work reflects her questioning around the challenges of the diversity of individuals in their context of group, society, culture and history. The idea of art as a social plastic is reflected in her collaborations with other artists or site-specific works. Her choice of work is driven by a curiosity to question the way we construct our reality and to translate these reflections by communicating with an audience through interaction and the play of perception. Any material is good if it makes sense in terms of texture, form or colour in context.
